Clark Wagner is the recipient of this year’s Glen Gibbs Award. He was the unanimous choice of this year’s selection committee.
The Glen Gibbs Memorial Award honours the memory of Glen Gibbs (1935-2010), who worked in junior chess at many tournaments around the state during his life. One promising junior player is recognised every year. The award is made possible thanks to the generosity of Maria Gibbs in memory of her late husband.
Clark first came to notice last year, when he won the 2019 Primary Division at the State Finals in Launceston. He successfully defended his title this year.
Clark has also been a dedicated and valued member of Professor David Small’s weekly online coaching sessions for talented Junior players. He represented Tasmania at the most recent Australian Junior Championships in Queensland.
Congratulations to Clark on a well-deserved win. The T.C.A. hopes the $220 prize that goes with the award will also assist your development as a player.
