Memorial Tourney

FORMAT:

7 round Swiss. 15 minutes flat per player per game.

SUNDAY THE 25TH OF APRIL:

Registrations close at 12:30, the first round starts at 1pm.

All rounds will progress as soon as practical after the last game in each round has finished, with sufficient breaks provided for longer lasting games.

ENTRIES:

Registrations close at 12:30 on the 25th of April. You can register online, or in person on the day.

FEES & LEVIES:

Entry fees may be paid on the day in cash (please tender the correct change) or by credit card. Entry fees may also be paid online prior to the event by credit card or PayPal, or by direct transfer.

  • All Competitors $30

The TCA Membership Levy does not apply to this event. This event is open to all players regardless of local club or association membership. All moneys are donated to the Tasmanian Chess Association.

Positions:

The final starting positions will be released closer to the time, or on the day - who knows!

 

Blitz Tourney

For all those who are not chessed-out at the end of the Thematic Memorial portion of the day, as with standing tradition there will be an ACF rated Blitz Tournament.

FORMAT:

9 round Swiss. 3 minutes + 2 seconds per player per move, from move 1.

SUNDAY THE 25TH OF APRIL:

All rounds will progress as soon as practical after the last game in each round has finished, with sufficient breaks provided for longer lasting games.

ENTRIES:

Registrations will be taken anytime on the day, in person only.

You do not have to play in the thematic tourney to play the blitz, but the blitz tourney start time is subject to the finish time of the thematic tournament.

FEES & LEVIES:

Entry fees may be paid on the day in cash (please tender the correct change) or by credit card.

There is no online payment option for this event.

BYES & NON-ATTENDANCE:

No voluntary byes will be allowed during the Blitz event.

  • Forced byes generated due to pairing requirements will be given a score of 1 point.

Unnotified non-attendance will attract a forfeit and 0 points. 2 instances of unnotified non-attendance will result in withdrawal from the tournament.

NOTES:

FIDE Laws 2018 apply – ringing mobiles will incur automatic loss. Entrants agree to abide by all decisions of the organisers and arbiters. The organisers reserve the right to make any changes required.
