LAUNCESTON CUP 2024

FORMAT:

5 round ACF Swiss. 30 minutes plus 30 seconds per move per player from move 1.

SCHEDULE:

Saturday the 7th of September

  • Round 1 - 10:00am

  • Beginner Blitz 1:00pm

  • Round 2 - 4:00pm

  • Round 3 - 7:00pm

Sunday the 8th of September

  • Round 4 - 9:00am

  • Round 5 - 11:30am

Entries close at 9:50am on Saturday the 7th of September.

FEES & LEVIES:

Entry fees may be paid online by credit card. Entry fees may also be paid by direct bank transfer or on the day in cash (please tender the correct change).
Please note the TCA no longer accepts card payment on the day.

  • Classical Entry $50 ($30 for junior or concession)

  • Beginner Blitz $5 per family.

In accordance with section 3 of the TCA Constitution, Tasmanian players not already a member of the TCA must pay an Individual TCA Membership levy in addition to their entry fee. This fee entitles the individual to all items listed under rule 3.2 of the constitution until the commencement of the next TCA financial year (rule 6.5)

Note that the Levy fees are at the End Of Year (EOY) discount rate which applies from 1st September.

Beginner Blitz:

The beginner blitz is a blitz tournament for newcomers running from 1pm until 4pm on the 7th of September. There will be coaching and games. Entry cost is 5 dollars per family.

2 additional arbiters to be selected from the entrants.

BYES & NON-ATTENDANCE:

Competitors may take up to 2 half-point byes during rounds 1-4 of this event. Half point byes are not available in rounds 5 or 6. Half-point bye requests for rounds 1 and 2 must be notified to the Director of Play before the start of round 1. Half-point bye requests for rounds 3, & 4 must be notified before the start of the preceding round round. Late requests may be declined and result in either a 0 point bye, or a time forfeit.

NOTES:

FIDE Laws 2018 apply – ringing mobiles will incur automatic loss. Entrants agree to abide by all decisions of the organisers and arbiters. The organisers reserve the right to make any changes required.
